On
Acupuncture
Acupuncture
is
an
ancient
healing
art
through
which
healing
is
facilitated
by
stimulating
its
own
healing
abilities.
No
medicines
have
to
be
ingested
that
may
have
unwanted
side
effects.
The
body’s
miraculous
healing
powers
are
activated
through
the
insertion
of
very
fine
needles
into
points
that
are
empirically
known
to
affect
the
nervous
system,
the
endocrine
system
(your
hormones),
as
well
as
the
functions
of
your
internal
organs.
How
does acupuncture work?
Chinese
medical theory is based
on the idea that our bodies
are partly made up of
channels of energy (known
as Qi – pronounced "chi")
that originate in our
organs and surface the
body in set patterns (known
as meridians). Disease
is the result of blockages
or deficiencies of the
flow of Qi through the
body, which is brought
about by poor lifestyle
choices (such as stuck
emotions, lack of exercise,
poor nutrition), trauma,
or inherited deficiencies
(i.e. your genes). Acupuncture
unblocks and rebalances
the flow of Qi to reestablish
harmony in the body.
From
a
physiological
standpoint,
research
reveals
that
acupuncture
stimulates
the
release
of
endorphins
and
enkephalins,
which
are
your
body’s
natural
painkillers.
In
addition,
it
acts
on
the
nervous
system
to
stimulate
brain
centers,
which
in
turn
may
positively
affect
your
vision,
for
example.
We
also
know
that
acupuncture
reduces
inflammation,
can
relieve
muscle
spasms
and
create
homeostasis
for
organic
problems
such
as
regulation
of
stomach
acid
secretion,
gall
bladder
function,
elimination
and
so
on.

may
also
be

in
other
chronic
conditions
to
slow
down
their
progress:
- Autoimmune
disorders (such as Lupus,
autoimmune hepatitis)

sclerosis
- Post-stroke
paralysis and pain (best
results obtained if treatment
begins shortly after stroke
has occurred)
